The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) established in London in 1920 has grown to become the biggest accredited classical ballet Examination Board in the world including being one of the most influential dance education and training organisations with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II being the Academy’s Royal patron.
RAD qualifications are accredited on the Qualifications and Credit Framework which means students entering RAD Graded examinations in dance (Grades 1 – 8) and Vocational Graded examinations in dance (Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2) if their examination result is either a pass or higher can use these to contribute towards their UCAS points tariff when applying for Higher Education or University places in the UK.
SBSD offers examinations as they are a wonderful opportunity, however, these are optional at SBSD and if you or your child does not wish to participate in examinations it will not hinder their personal progress in dancing through the grades and reaching their potential.
The International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA) is one of the world’s biggest examination boards, enveloping the complete spectrum of dance examinations globally for all ages and levels of experience and achievement.
The IDTA is an Ofqual recognised awarding organisation being able to offer in Modern and Tap Grades 1 – 5 qualifications in the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
