Contemporary

SBSD Contemporary classes follow the technique of Martha Graham; an innovator of the contemporary style of dance.

Martha Graham experimented with the basic human movement of contraction and release, and used these principles as the foundation for her technique, building a vocabulary of movement which were sharp, angular, jagged and direct. 

To participate in our Contemporary classes, pupils are required to have attended Modern or Ballet classes and have a good basic understanding of Modern or Ballet technique.
