Setting Standards in Classical Ballet

These graded and well-structured RAD Ballet classes for Boys and Girls are a favourite among many of our pupils. 

Classes are taught by Miss Samantha, Principal of SBSD. Miss Samantha welcomes everyone into her prestigious Dance School delivering the world's most influential dance education in Ballet.

• 4+ months  -  Ballet Bubbles

• 2½ - 3 years  -  Pre-Curriculum Level 1

• 3-5 years  -  Pre-Curriculum Level 2

• 5+ years  -  Pre-Primary in Dance

• 7+ years  -  Primary in Dance

• 8+ years  -  Grade 1 - 5 

• Intermediate Ballet

• Advanced 1 Ballet

• 18+ years  -  Adult Ballet

Our RAD Ballet Pre-Curriculum in Dance Level 1 & Level 2 syllabus classes are a wonderful stepping-stone from our Ballet Bubbles class into our RAD graded classes. The classes are a chance to dance, use interactive props, develop key movement skills, co-ordination, expression and musical awareness, and creativity, all within a magical experience whilst growing confidence. Whilst having fun, many of our Level 1 & Level 2 pupils learn the skills to progress into our RAD Pre-Primary Ballet Class.

RAD Ballet Pre-Curriculum in Dance Level 1 classes are open to 2½ - 3 year olds and Pre-Curriculum in Dance Level 2 classes are open to all those who are 3 - 5 years old. The classes are a fantastic opportunity for your little one to experience and explore their independence, for you to grow your network of friends with children, and to allow your child to blossom new friendships in a safe space.

Grade 1 - 5 pupils are required to attend a Character Dance class, if they wish to be entered for examinations. Character Dance is the theatrical presentation of national dance using original ethnic dance and music, which was freely adapted for the theatre. Styles are selected because of their historic importance in the development of the nineteenth century classical ballets.

The classes are run by our highly trained Principal who is not only a professional teacher, performer, and business owner, but also a Mummy of two. She has first-hand experience of the affects that covid-19 lockdowns had on new parents and young children, and would love to encourage those who have been tentative about trying new classes or got out of the habit of attending sessions into SBSD RAD Ballet Pre-Curriculum in Dance Level 1 & Level 2 classes. On arrival at the SBSD studios, we will encourage all children to come into the studio without their parent/guardian, and from experience find that once they are with our teachers they quickly become engaged with the class and enjoy their independence. Parents and guardians are very welcome to stay in our comfortable waiting area whilst the class is running in the studio. We appreciate what a big step gaining independence by entering a class without 'their' adult can be for children (and parents/guardians), and will be only too happy to experience this transitioning moment with you.
